After Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Apollo Hospitals Dhaka, CMH Dhaka has started their Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant in Bangladesh. However, this is the first centre in the country that started allogeneic transplant, a highly sophisticated and risky treatment option for some of the haematological malignant and non-malignant diseases and also for some immune disorders.

The patient was a case of AML (Intermediate risk) in CR1. Donor was major mismatched. Conditioning regimen was Flu-Mel. It is now almost 9 months post-transplant. Patient is now stable and healthy. Chimerism study reveals 100% donor type. Blood group converted to donor type. He has not suffered from any gross GVHD except some skin GvSD. Cyclosporine tapered and stopped few days back.

BMT Centre, CMH Dhaka already successfully completed 15 autologous Bone Marrow Transplantation and 1 allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplantation. All the patients after transplantation now stable and healthy. They are taking regular follow up in this Center. Recently this Centre started 2nd allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplantation. Many patients are now waiting to do Bone Marrow Transplantation in this Centre.
