After Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Apolo Hospitals Dhaka and Dhaka CMH, the haematology department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University has started haematopoietic stem cell transplant in Bangladesh. They have successfully performed their first autologous bone marrow transplant in a relapsed multiple myeloma patient. The patient recovered the peripheral blood count within the usual expected time.

It is notable that the department of haematology of Dhaka Medical College stated working as the pioneer haematopoietic stem cell transplant centre in Bangladesh. All the centres in Bangladesh are still performing autologous transplant. The related physicians are expecting that allogeneic transplant will start very soon.
