This is my immense pleasure, privilege and honour to serve as the President of Haematology Society of Bangladesh (HSB) which has been founded by our pioneer haematologist Professor MA Rashid in 1999. HSB is a philanthropic social organization for the haematologists in Bangladesh to gather them in a single united platform. It is designed to uphold the rights and dignity of the haematologists of Bangladesh along with to enlighten the Bangladeshi people providing updated treatment and knowledge for their haematological diseases.
From the very beginning the society has been striving hard to improve the availability of updated haematological investigations and treatment facilities in the country. Although still there is much lacking, we have achieved enormous success in the way of our goal by motivating the policy makers in the public and private sectors. Now there are independent haematology department in one public university, eight public medical colleges, one public institute, and one armed force and two private sector hospitals. Stem Cell Transplant centres have been established in one public, one army and one private hospitals. Independent haemophilia, thalassaemia, lymphoma and myeloma clinics have been established in four hospitals also. Recognized postgraduate training facilities are now available in five hospitals and it is to spread to other hospitals as well.
The society is committed, with national and international collaboration, to improve the knowledge and awareness of the people about haematological diseases, to disseminate updated knowledge about haematological management to the physicians and trainees by seminars, symposiums, workshops etc., and to update the curriculum of graduate and postgraduate medical education in Bangladesh. The society is committed to exploit all means of mass communication to achieve its objectives, and this website is a part of this commitment. It will be appreciating and helpful to achieve our aim and objectives and to develop our society if the members of the society share their knowledge and experience in this website by signing it letting our people know about haematology and what we haematologists do and I invite to do so. I think this website will make us familiar to our people and will be resourceful not only for our patients but also the haematologists, other physicians, trainee doctors and students, and the related nurses, technologists, health educators and social workers.
Thank you for being in touch with us.
