Insertion of a permanent catheter at the jugular vein
Vascular access specialists assess and place intravenous catheters. They work with other clinicians to place the right device for each patient, taking into consideration factors like health history, medication, and how long the device will be used. The goal is one patient, one device. Their knowledge and assessment skills are also applied to care, maintenance, and troubleshooting the devices in an effort to avoid complications.
Dr. Mostafizur Rahman is one of the very few vascular access specialists in Bangladesh. He is quite skilled in making arteriovenous fistula as well as catheter insertion in the major vessels. He placed huge number of catheters in jugular, femoral and subclavian veins in patients for the purpose of chemotherapy and hemodialysis. He has been doing this job for about 20 years and achieved director’s certificate from the National Institute of Kidney Disease and Urology in 2007.
Dr. Mostafiz passed the MBBS at Rangpur Medical College in 1997.
